WordPress plugin

The Hipsy Events plugin synchronizes the events you create on Hipsy.nl with your WordPress website. With just a few steps, you connect your Hipsy account to your WordPress site and your events are synchronized automatically.

Installation

Follow these steps to install the plugin:

1. Download the plugin (click on hipsy-events.zip).
2. Log in as administrator on your WordPress website.
3. Navigate to Plugins, click Add New and then click Upload Plugin at the top of the page.
4. Select and upload the .zip file you downloaded in step 1.
5. Activate the plugin on the Plugins overview page.

Configuration

Once you've installed the plugin, you need to connect it to your Hipsy account before you can publish your events on your website. For this you need an API key.

1. Log in to your Hipsy dashboard.
2. Click on your organisation name and click on 'Koppelingen'.
3. Click on the button 'Nieuwe API Key' to create a key and give it a name, for example My WordPress website.
4. Copy the generated key.
5. Go to your WordPress admin panel and click on Hipsy events in the menu (only visible once you've activated the plugin).
6. Click on Hipsy settings.
7. Paste the generated API key and click Save settings.
8. Select the organisation of which you want to synchronize the events.

Once you've done these steps, your events are automatically synchronized and published on your website. When you add or change events on Hipsy.nl, they are also added or changed on your website.

Usage

Events listing

Once you have installed and configured the plugin on your WordPress website, an events link is added to your menu. This link navigates to a page which lists all your upcoming events.

You are free to remove this link from your menu. You can also add the events listing to an existing page: open the editor of this page and, when adding a new block, search for the Hipsy events list block.

Manually add events

You can also add events to your WordPress website that you didn't publish on Hipsy. Click on Add event (under Hipsy events) in the menu to add a new event to your WordPress website only.

Q: What is an API key?

A: The plugin uses an API key to connect securely with Hipsy. The API key gives your WordPress website permission to read your events on Hipsy. You can create your API key here. Read more about the API key.

Q: What kind of support do you offer for the plugin?

A: The plugin is no longer maintained, so we don't offer support for it anymore. We recommend switching to the event widget.

Q: Where can I get help if I encounter issues with the plugin?

A: You can still open an issue on our GitHub repository, where other users and developers may be able to help you. We don't fix issues in the plugin anymore.

Q: Is there an easier way to show my events on my website?

A: Yes, use the event widget. It works on WordPress and any other website, and is the option we recommend.
